Dominican Advance, Inc
Dominican Advance was established in 2006 to educate needy Dominican children, empower entrepreneurs, and train Christian leaders. It's headed up by Dr. Kim Pensinger and his wife, Josie. Dominican Advance is a registered non profit in the United State and the Dominican Republic. Registration with the CRA in Canada is pending.
Dominican Advance built and operates the Dr. Phyllis Callahan Christian School in the village of Nazareth. This school is a fully accredited, private Christian school offering quality Christian education to the children of Nazareth and the surrounding villages. The same quality program will be established for the Christian school in Paradise Village.
Scholarships for Champions Sponsorship Program
Dominican Advance's sponsorship program is called Scholarships for Champions. Sponsoring a child means you provide a needy Dominican child with a scholarship to one of Dominican Advance's schools. The scholarship includes the uniform, all textbooks, school supplies, and it covers the operating expenses of the school program.
The school nutrition program is operated separately and is not funded by sponsorships through the Scholarships for Champions program.
Sponsorship costs $35 (US) monthly or #399 (US) if paid annually. Monthly payments are made automatically by charging a credit/debt card or through bank account withdrawals. We do not receive monthly checks. The annual payment may be made by check and should be sent to Dominican Advance, PO Box 924, Williston, VT 05495. It may also be made through our Web site at www.dominicanadvance.org (Donate Online page). All payments are tax deductible for US tax payers who file an itemized return.
Payment in Canada funds can be made by calculating the exchange rate at the time of the payment and will be tax deductible for Canadian tax payers upon approval by the CRA of Dominican Advance's application for tax exempt status in Canada.
How to Do an Early Sponsorship of a Child to the Paradise Christian School
Construction of the school will begin in early February and a general pre-registration will follow later in the month. At the pre-registration, information will be gathered so we can put together the student profiles needed for sponsorship. However, you may provide an "early sponsorship" (reserve a child) by filling out the Early Sponsorship Form and getting it to us by mid-February.

Things you need to know about sponsorship for children in Paradise Christian School:
1) Enrollment in the school for the 2010-11 school year is limited to only those children going in to grade Pre-K to Second Grade. This means that generally only those children age 4 (by August 2010) to 8 will be eligible. A word of caution - mothers may say that their child is 4 years old when in fact the child is only three. These children cannot be enrolled in the school until they reach the proper age.
2) Sponsorship does not guarantee that the parents will follow through and send their child to school. In some cases, parents have pre-registered their child but then choose not enroll him or her in the program. We make every effort to see that all children who are pre-registered actually come to the school, but there are things that are beyond our control.
3) Each parent will be required to pay a small monthly tuition for their child(ren) to attend the school. The financial participation of parents is vital to the quality of response that we need from them to properly education their children. This small, affordable tuition payment is set up by the Principal of our school at the time of enrollment and is set according the income level of the family. Sponsors may not pay this payment for the family of the child(ren) they are sponsoring.
4) All regular communication with sponsors is done through email. Each sponsor must have a current and valid email address.
5) Sponsors receive a monthly e-newsletter on the progress of our ministry, a monthly Sponsors' Page email, and three correspondences from their sponsor child at the beginning of each semester and at the end of school year. They may also send letters to their sponsor child.
