Thank You Support Dominican Service Projects

On behalf of Dominican Service Projects, I would like to thank you for your generous donation towards our 2011 project. Your contribution made it possible for us to continue our support in the Dominican Republic including the funding of several houses and a village-wide septic system.

Since we began in 2006, our Dominican projects have raised over three hundred thousand dollars. 2011 was the sixth consecutive year that our group traveled from Ontario to the poor Dominican and Haitian villages of the Dominican Republic. We have delivered more than 10,000 pounds of donated goods including household items, baby products and medical supplies in our hockey bags as checked baggage. We have built two Medical Clinics and dozens of homes and shops. We have purchased construction materials, supported schools and sponsored students and micro business owners, as well as feeding programs and infant care programs.

In 2011 alone our group of 23 volunteers raised over $55,000 and carried 2,200 lbs of supplies. The funds enabled us to finance a village septic waste treatment system and five new homes for destitute and truly grateful families, as well as distribute food to each family in Pancho Mateo, one of the poorest villages I have ever seen. Other projects this year included a lunch served to students attending the School in Esperanza, as well as a donation to the Mustard Seed Orphanage, a group who tend to handicapped children and offer, with the tiniest budget you could imagine, the only hope and chance for life these kids have anywhere. We also donated money to the Esperanza Medical Clinic and the Puerto Plata Public Hospital (ie extremely underfunded) to buy medicines, and to a small private school in Agua Negra where the poorest of the poor hope to lift their children out of the local squalor (this year we helped build them a new roof after the old one collapsed). All this is only possible because of thoughtful contributions from you and other thoughtful people like you.

The money that you donated (for amounts over $25) is fully tax deductible. Next February you will receive a receipt for your 2011 donations (from CLTI). You should already have received a tax receipt for your 2010 donations; if not, please let me know right away.

In 2012, we plan to continue our Dominican Service Projects efforts. Here’s hoping for your continued support in the future. If you would like to know more about our work, and see some pictures of us in action, please visit www.DominicanServiceProjects.com. Or call me, I’d be happy to tell you more.

Once again thank you for your generous donation.

Sincerely,

Paul Stewart
